DAHA Accreditation provides benchmark for how housing providers should respond to domestic abuse

The DAHA Accreditation is the new benchmark for housing providers, that is awarded to those who have demonstrated good practice and commitment to recognising, responding and preventing domestic abuse.

Those who undertake the DAHA Accreditation successfully receive a framed certificate that stands testament to this commitment. It’s a core principle of the government’s “Ending violence against women and girls strategy: 2016 to 2020”. These housing providers are also permitted to use the DAHA Accredited logo on their website and stationery.

The Accreditation outlines 8 priority areas, in which housing providers must work through, all of which is collated on their DAHA’s dedicated website. They are:

1. Policies & Procedures
2. Case Management
3. Risk Management
4. Equality & Diversity
5. Perpetrator Management
6. Partnership Working
7. Staff Training
8. Publicity & Awareness

Once all evidence has been submitted, DAHA carry out an on-site inspection to review and evaluate and determine whether all 8 priorities have been met before awarding the DAHA Accreditation.
