Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker

Birmingham Permanent, Full Time £13.50 - £16.50 per hour

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Therapeutic Support Worker to join our team and provide therapeutic care to children and young people in a residential setting. You will support the management of the care home, guide a team of support workers, and ensure the needs of the children and young people are met in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead shifts and supervise staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Provide direct support to children and young people, promoting their emotional, physical, and psychological well-being.
  • Support household tasks, including cooking, shopping, and promoting independent living skills.
  • Ensure the children’s rights are respected, creating a safe and supportive environment.
  • Administer medication as required and contribute to care planning and risk assessments.
  • Lead by example in maintaining therapeutic principles and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Work alongside educational staff and professionals to support children’s educational and social needs.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, promoting the welfare and safety of the children in care.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including social workers, families, and relevant agencies.

Requirements:

  • Completed Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England).
  • At least 2 years of experience working with young people in a residential or similar setting.
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team.
  • Over 21 years old.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car.
  • Willingness to work 24-hour shifts, including sleepovers and waking nights.
  • Successful applicants will undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
